Mason Wells acquires beverage can digital printer Canworks
Private equity firm Mason Wells has purchased direct-to-can digital decorator Canworks, which supplies short-run aluminum packaging across five US states.

morningstar.com said digital can printing specialist Canworks, Inc. has been sold to private equity investor Mason Wells. The transaction was advised exclusively by Mesirow, according to a corporate release issued on November 4, 2026.
Founded in 2020 by Marshall and Ryan Thompson, Canworks supplies direct-to-aluminum container digital printing tailored for beverage makers, co-packers, brokers, and wholesalers. Its client base spans independent craft categories, including craft brewing, ready-to-drink spirits, seltzers, ciders, cannabis and CBD drinks, kombucha, energy formulations, and wellness beverages. The decorator targets smaller and emerging producers needing short-run flexibility, rapid turnaround schedules, graphic assistance, and technical production support.
Canworks currently runs five production sites across Connecticut, Georgia, Texas, Missouri, and California. Midwest-based Mason Wells completed the purchase through its fifth buyout pool, a $767 million vehicle designated as Mason Wells Buyout Fund V, LP. The private equity buyer targets packaging materials, converting, and consumer packaged goods among its core investment sectors. Canworks' co-founders stated the sale aims to accelerate operational scaling across the business.
