Messages & Community
DISTRYB messaging connects your business with the other businesses you buy from and sell to. Find it under Messages in the left nav.
Your Messages inbox
- You message a business, not a person. A conversation is between your company and theirs, so anyone on your team who handles it sees the same thread — nothing gets stuck in one person's inbox.
- You still see who's speaking. Each message shows which teammate sent it (for example, "Jane · Skycity Grill"), so a shared inbox stays personal.
- Order & invoice chat. Every order and invoice has a "Message" link that opens (or continues) the right conversation, with the order set as context.
Messaging a specific store
Some businesses have more than one location. When you message a multi-location business, DISTRYB asks "Which location?" so you reach the right store — for example Famous Wine & Spirits · Pershing. Messaging from an order picks the store that order ships to automatically. Single-location businesses just open directly.
The DISTRYB Community
The Community board (in the left nav) is a platform-wide trade town square for DISTRYB businesses — post availability, what you're looking for, closeouts, and industry news. Verified businesses can post; every business can read.
- Topics. Browse the global board or focused topics (Availability, Looking For, Closeouts, Announcements).
- Discuss. Reply to any post; react; edit or delete your own.
- Keep it clean. Report a post for our team to review; DISTRYB staff can remove posts or restrict repeat offenders.
Mentions, notifications & PLUG
- @mention a handle to notify that business or person; notifications name the conversation or store so you know where you were mentioned.
- @plug in any thread to ask PLUG for help. In a shared thread PLUG only helps with how-to and navigation — it never shares one business's private account details in a conversation another business can read.
Message settings
Under Company Settings → Messaging you can control:
- Who can message you — anyone, existing partners only, or no new messages.
- Community notifications — every post, mentions only, or muted.
- Per-store staff — a teammate assigned to specific store(s) only sees those stores' conversations.
Credits
Starting a brand-new conversation with a business you've never dealt with uses a message credit (or is unlimited on Growth and up). Replies, conversations with businesses you already work with, and the Community are always free.
