Ask PLUG about production
At a distillery using Production & TTB, PLUG reads your stillhouse and can draft records for you. Type to it, or press the microphone to dictate.
What you can ask
- What's on hand. Proof gallons by account, what is in each tank, fermenter and still, barrel counts, open lots, shipments in bond waiting to be received, materials on hand, and the latest fermentation reading on each batch.
- Find lots and barrels. By kind, account, age, rackhouse or client, with totals. For example: "how much bourbon is over 4 years old?" or "what's in rackhouse B?". A barrel's age counts from its fill date.
- Will this month file? PLUG runs the Reports tab's own check and tells you what blocks the month, the closing balances, the taxable removals and excise estimate, and the due dates.
- Today's brief. Press Today's brief on the Production page, or ask "what's on today?": mashes in fermenters with days since mash in, stills charged, barrels reaching 1, 2 or 4 years in the next 30 days, months not yet filed, and setup steps still to do.
- Your old system's history. PLUG can search the History (before DISTRYB) archive. It labels those rows as from your previous system and never adds them into your totals.
PLUG quotes figures as the tools return them. It does not work out gallons, proof, tax or ages on its own.
Recording through PLUG
On the Floor, press Tell PLUG what you did, then say it in distillery terms: "collected 42 gallons of hearts at 140 into tank 3, more cuts to come".
- PLUG asks for anything missing (which still, which tank, the cut, the gallons or weight, the proof and temperature) instead of guessing. With more than one plant, it asks which one.
- It proposes the record and shows a card with what would be recorded, in proof gallons.
- Only your tap on Confirm records it. PLUG cannot record on its own.
It goes through the same checks as the Floor, so anything the Floor would refuse is refused here too. If the gauge and the books disagree, PLUG asks whether to record the difference as a loss or a gain.
PLUG can propose almost any Floor record (not a fermentation reading or a barrel move), plus a few with no button yet, such as shipping bulk spirits in bond to another plant. For opening balances and receipts in bond it asks the questions that decide the excise rate (where the spirits came from, and which shipment) and never assumes the answer.
Undoing through PLUG
Ask PLUG to undo a record entered in error. It lists your recent records, asks your reason, and shows a card to confirm. A tax-paid removal or a shipment to another proprietor needs the same confirmations as on the Ledger tab, and PLUG asks for them rather than assuming. To fix a record, undo it and then propose it again.
What PLUG will not do
- File, or mark anything filed. A person signs the reports on the Reports tab.
- Record or undo without your Confirm.
- Go beyond your own permissions. PLUG offers each person only the tools their role allows, and an API key can never undo a production record.
Dictating
The microphone button appears where your browser supports speech recognition. The browser's own speech service turns what you say into text in the message box. Check it, then send.
